ARTICLE I—NAME AND AREA

Section 1. The name of this organization shall be Pacific Southwest District of the Unitarian Universalist Association.

Section 2. The territory included in this District will be that designated by the General Assembly of the Unitarian Universalist Association following consultation with the authorized representatives of the churches and fellowships concerned.

ARTICLE II—PURPOSES AND OBJECTIVES

Section 1. To advance the programs and purposes of the Unitarian Universalist Association.

Section 2. To encourage united action among member societies on Religious, Social, and Moral issues.

ARTICLE III—MEMBERSHIP

Section 1. All churches and fellowships within the geographical area indicated in Article 1, Section 2, and affiliated with the Unitarian Universalist Association, including members of the Church of the Larger Fellowship resident within the region (considered as a single society), shall be members of the Pacific Southwest District of the Unitarian Universalist Association.

ARTICLE IV—CONDUCT OF DISTRICT AFFAIRS

Section 1. Delegates and individuals having the right to vote shall constitute the Assembly of the District. The Assembly shall be the policy-making body for carrying out the purposes and objectives of the District and shall direct and control its affairs. The Board of Trustees shall conduct the affairs of the District and, subject to the provisions of its Constitution and bylaws, shall carry out the policies and directives of the assembly and shall have the usual powers of corporate directors as provided by law.

Section 2. This Constitution may be amended or repealed by the Assembly at a regular business meeting of the District at which a quorum is present if two-thirds of those present and voting so order, but the Assembly shall act on any proposed amendment or repeal only when the same has been submitted in accordance with the bylaws and read at the previous regular business meeting.
